Starting in the early 1990's, Serb armed forces and militias uprooted thousands of Bosnian Muslims from their homes in order to carve out a greater Serbia. They called this ethnic cleansing (the mass expulsion or killing of members of an ethnic or religious group in a society). This took place in Bosnia (also known as Bosnia-Hercegovina). Bosnia, a former member of the Yugoslav federation, contains 4 million people divided into Croatian, Islamic, and Serbian communities.
